The Hromi Medal recognizes individuals who have made significant and noteworthy contributions to the science of inspection and/or the advancement of the inspection profession. Congratulations to George Schuetz for being selected as this year’s Hromi medalist!
For over 40 years, George Schuetz, Director of Precision Gaging at Mahr Inc., has made a positive and impactful contribution to the metrology profession. Over the course of his career, he has worked in measurement applications areas for mechanical and digital indicators, mechanical gages, air tooling, electronic products, special gaging designs, surface finish, and geometry gaging. In addition, George has lectured at various colleges, ASME meetings, NCSL conferences, IMTS and Quality Expo. However, his most noteworthy contribution has been the publication of over 350 inspection and gaging articles written for a variety of professional trade magazines as well his book Quality Gaging Tips.
Schuetz’s citation reads: For dedicated and long-term contributions to the science of metrology. Specifically, for the publication of over 350 articles related to inspection and gaging, primarily as a columnist for the monthly Modern Machine Shop magazine for 26 years. Also, for actively supporting new product development and devoted service to the AMTMA.
