"Systemness requires organisations to evolve into a ‘connected care community’ instead of operating in a hospital-centric model. This transition is necessary to successfully implement new models of care, such as value- based care and population health management, and will ultimately drive the formation of a more agile, virtually integrated enterprise."
To me, this means all facets of healthcare working together to provide coordinated patient care. We need to break out of silo thinking and the boundaries of department, facility, group, specialty, and entity and consider the bigger picture and how all the pieces work together. The term "systemness" may have only been around for a couple of years but the quality concepts and tools to achieve "systemness" have been around for a long time.
The Healthcare Division encourages participation by all healthcare entities, positions, and professions - we have a great opportunity to learn from each other and improve healthcare across the globe.
