The Built Environment, Construction, and Sustainability: Why do I need to design, build, operate or decommission assets sustainably?
Divisional Webinar hosted by ASQ Toronto Section
ASQ Social Responsibility Technical Community
ASQ Design and Construction Division
ASQ Energy and Environmental Division
Date: Saturday, June 5, 2021, 10 AM - 12 EDT
The Built Environment is one of the largest in the world and consumes vast amounts of resources, energy, and land. It uses approximately 50% of global steel production, produces 25-40% of carbon emissions and 30-40% of solid waste generation. Well established processes and businesses models have been unchanged for centuries, but now they are under strain because of market changes to the sector. Now, environmental performance, social impact and reusability are as important as economic efficiency and productivity.
In this webinar, we will discuss:
The Construction industry and its impact on the environment and why environmental performance and responsibility is so important.
Sustainability solutions such as ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 50001 (Energy Management) and ISO 55001 (Asset Management).
The UNSDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) other mandates and solutions that contribute to a sustainable future in the Built Environment.
