Hello,
As a new member of our Quality Department, I'm concerned/confused about the sampling and acceptance protocol for goods received. I'm told that the a capability study is performed to determine and AQL value. I have concern for many reasons but two specifically.
- I don't think it's possible to determine process capability of an outside supplier by measuring all features on each component of a sample set of a received lot. Only the supplier can perform a capability study after it's been determined that the measurement data is normally distributed and the process has been confirmed as in control. Is this correct?
- AQL is a set value from industry standards and chosen by the inspecting group. It is not determined by measurement data taken from multiple features of several parts from a sample set. Is this correct?
- AQL has not relationship nor can be translated from Cpk or the reverse. Is this correct?
