• ASQ HD&L Webinar July 15 - (In Spanish) – Desarrolando Un Cerebro Cientifico, El Cerebro Matematico Luego De COVID-19 BY Dr. Js. Gilberto Gilberto Concepcion
Presenter: Dr. Souraj Salah
ASQ HD&L Webinar Date: April 20, 2020

Please note, this webinar was conducted in Arabic and an English translation is not currently available.

Title in English: How to lead a sustainable quality culture to achieve performance excellence?

Description in English: It is well agreed today that committed and effective leadership is very essential for any organization that aims not only at achieving high levels of excellence in its performance but also at sustaining that performance in the future to ensure survival. Leadership is about the creation of a work environment that motivates and engages employees as well as the creation of a culture which is conducive to quality and flexible for change. It is about drawing from various principles of quality management, and focusing equally on hard and soft aspects of management. It is about social responsibility towards workers, the whole society, environment and the future generations. For leaders to sustain an excellent level of performance for people and business, they need to effectively implement transformation models such as Lean Sigma and Award models which are properly integrated with the organization's management systems (MSs). The framework for formulating such an integration is presented through the proposed Integrated Company-Wide Management System (ICWMS) which mainly draws on five MSs grouped into strategic management, project management, daily (operation) management, process management and performance management.
• Webinar Title: The Power Of Positive Psychology
Presenter: Brooks Carder, PhD
ASQ HD&L Webinar Date: April 14, 2020

Deming argued that what he called profound knowledge, knowledge of variation, systems, psychology, and the theory of knowledge, was the essential knowledge for leadership. Since his death in 1990, psychology has changed dramatically and has become much more powerful. Martin Seligman, who played an important role in much of this development, describes the changes thusly:
- First, the discipline abandoned behaviorism to embrace cognition and consciousness.
- Second, it realized that evolution and the brain constrain what we can learn.
- Third, it ended its fixation on only curing what is wrong to include building what is right and positive in the world.
- Finally, it discovered that we are drawn into the future rather than driven by the past.

In this webinar, Brooks discussed the implications of these developments for leadership with particular emphasis on positive psychology, ranging from George Washington’s leadership of the American Revolution to interventions that dramatically reduced the problems for soldiers returning from Afghanistan. Presenter: Dan Hopwood
ASQ HD&L Webinar Date: July 10, 2019

Mentorship is both an essential activity and unique skill serving as a powerful asset in our professional, academic and personal lives. Critical to the development of aspiring, new or experienced professionals, mentorship, as will be highlighted, is not solely in the purview of the manager and supervisor. Mentorship, that at its core, assists the business professional in entering a field, achieving technical, operational and business growth and, for many, ultimately in becoming leaders is embedded in the model and discussion. Mentors and mentees, both, occupy critical roles in the mentoring relationship – the many benefits for both that will be reviewed. Essential characteristics of both parties to the mentoring process will be highlighted as will what is referred to as the mentoring “covenant” – the relationship found between the mentor and mentee. The presenter’s 4 Quadrant Mentorship Model will be highlighted and its connection and use in the mentoring process. Webinar: Mentorship Done Right: Esse...
